Interests:
My
research uses existing data from commercial and scientific longlining
cruises in combination with data from satellite-tracked turtles to define
pelagic habitat for loggerhead (Caretta caretta ) sea turtles in
the
North Atlantic
, and to determine the degree to which they are caught in proximity to
oceanic fronts. I am using remotely sensed oceanographic data as
explanatory variables for presence/absence of both species of turtle from
bycatch records and for movements of satellite-tracked individual turtles.
I am also examining variation in catch of other species caught in the same
fisheries as either bycatch or as targeted catch and determining to what
degree they are found in association with marine turtles.
I
like to fish, too.
