If you are considering graduate study
or a professional career in the marine sciences, developing research
skills through hands-on experience is one of the most valuable
learning opportunities you can have. This summer, Oregon State
University will offer 20 students from all over the U.S. the
opportunity to work with faculty mentors on research projects
that advance knowledge and understanding of marine, coastal and
estuarine environments.
The Research Experience for Undergraduates program runs from June 14th
to August 20th, 2010 at the Hatfield
Marine Science Center (HMSC) in Newport and at the College
of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences in Corvallis. |

|
Take advantage of the opportunity to gain research experience while exploring new fields of study, including: Geophysics, Physical Oceanography, Chemical Oceanography, Marine Biology and Ecology, Marine Geology, Estuarine Ecology, Biogeochemistry, and many others. |
|
| The HMSC in Newport is one of the largest
marine labs in the Pacific Northwest, a thriving research community
where students interact with university faculty and government
agency scientists and have easy access to the “living laboratory” of
Oregon’s coastal estuaries and the ocean. On the OSU main
campus in Corvallis, the College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences
trains the next generation of biological, chemical, geological
and physical oceanographers, offering opportunities for interdisciplinary
research in world class labs and facilities. |
Eligibility
Currently enrolled undergraduates who have by June 2010 completed
at least two years of coursework may apply. (Eligibility limited
to U.S. citizens)
REU interns receive a weekly stipend, housing on-site, and round-trip
transportation from their home area. Learn more and apply online.
