HMSC’s facilities for research and teaching are recognized as a major component of program success. The Guin Library at HMSC has gained well-deserved recognition nationally for the quality of its collection, the expertise of its professional library staff, and its inspiring atmosphere. The research infrastructure includes a reliable 800,000-gallon seawater system, extensive marine experiment facilities and analytical labs, and excellent staging for oceanographic work. Modern research vessels and dock facilities, deep-water instrumentation, and animal quarantine facilities provide the capacity required for cutting-edge marine science. HMSC’s Education Wing consists of classrooms, a distance education classroom and teaching laboratories with seawater tables. Students have access to running seawater, water tables, a fume hood, grow lights and microscopes. Two temperature control rooms, outdoor tanks and a shop are available.
