| Purpose: |
To encourage undergraduate student scholarship in residence at the HMSC during summer term.
Undergraduate coursework at the Hatfield Marine Science Center provides unique, hands-on educational opportunities to students in many different disciplines. Students are able to study the rich diversity of marine organisms in their natural coastal and ocean estuarine environments through courses beyond the classroom and into the laboratory, aboard research vessels and out in tide pools, mudflats, estuaries, rivers, bays and ocean.
During the summer term, a variety of opportunities are available, ranging from diverse academic coursework to research internships. The MacGregor Scholarship funds are awarded to defray the costs of housing during residence at HMSC for undergraduate student(s) requiring financial aid. Students from underrepresented and educationally disadvantaged (low family income, first generation in one’s family to attend college) groups are encouraged to apply.
