US Environmental Protection Agency's Pacific Coastal Ecology Branch develops approaches to assess the effects of human activities on the ecological resources of Pacific Northwest estuaries, including protection of estuaries from excess nutrients,  effects of climate change on estuaries, and evaluation of the important ecological services of estuaries such as healthy fish, shellfish, and wildlife populations. PCEB’s research supports the Program and Regional Offices of EPA and the Agency’s mission to protect the environment and human health.
