Ivan Pratt was on the faculty of the Department of Zoology at Oregon State University, where he served as a professor, conducted research, and lead graduate programs in invertebrate zoology and parasitology from 1946 to 1973. Pratt also served as resident director of the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) and was a professor at OIMB during the summers from 1946 to 1952. Ivan Pratt established a parasitology laboratory at the Marine Science Center in 1965 where he initiated and upheld an extensive research program and directed student research in marine biology until his death in 1973. He also was a prominent member of Ivan Pratt the group that planned the development of HMSC and one of the founders of the Oregon Marine Biological Association. The legacy of Ivan Pratt’s parasitology research endures today at Hatfield Marine Science Center under the leadership of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
