Project: Captive breeding: conflict between maintaining genetic
variation and loss of
behavioural fitness
(Supervisor, Michael Banks and Ian Fleming Coastal Oregon Marine
Experiment Station,
OSU)
Whitney
project involved learning molecular genetic techniques and using
these tools to help address questions within a research project
to examine fitness consequences of captive breeding programmes;
particularly those designed to maintain genetic variability in captive
animals. This work should result in publication in a primary journal.
