Currents is the HMSC newsletter, published 5 times a year, for internal distribution around HMSC (to mail rooms, bulletin boards, staff lounges, etc.) Electronic versions of the newsletter (in PDF) are also posted on the web. Guidelines for submitting content: HMSC Currents welcomes articles or news briefs highlighting research & education/outreach activities, conferences and workshops attended, announcements about upcoming events, new initiatives, new positions coming online, etc. Longer “feature” type stories are also welcome (up to 750 words in length). We also encourage submission of photos, as accompaniment to articles or just with a caption. We prefer high resolution photos (at least 180 dpi), so they can be scaled down as necessary.

Personnel news: For all new hires, we like to include a paragraph or two that offers some information about the person’s background, where they’re from, what they are working on here, interests, hobbies, etc. Staff will come by to take a photo (or the person can submit one).

Deadlines for submitting content:
January issue - Jan. 8 for Jan. 15 publication
March issue – Mar. 8 for Mar. 15 publication
June issue – Jun 8 for Jun 15 publication
August issue – Aug 8 for Aug 15 publication
October issue – Oct. 8 for Oct. 15 publication
