From the 2017-18 Quest Book:

  • HMSC Tsunami Quest [tsunami_quest.pdf] - 60 minutes. Learn all about earthquake and tsunami safety at the coast as you follow the clues and practice evacuating to high ground. This Quest was created by 7th graders at Newport Middle School and has been tested by teachers, students, and families.
  • HMSC Nature Trail Quest [HTML] [estuary_quest.pdf] - 45 minutes.  Explore the salt marsh and mud flat habitats of the Yaquina Bay Estuary. The trail offers beautiful views and lots of opportunities to observe birds and other estuarine inhabitants.  Your journey begins at the HMSC Nature Trail entrance located between the Oregon Coast Aquarium and HMSC's back gate.

From the 2015-16 Quest Book:

  • HMSC Sustainability Quest [HTML] - 45 minutes.  Find out what 'sustainability' is and some of the ways Hatfield Marine Science Center is striving to achieve it.  The Quest begins outside the front entrance to the Visitor Center, and takes you around to the back of buildings where you will peer into storm drains, examine native plants, discover a giant skeleton, and more! This Quest is not included in the 2017-18 Quest Book because we anticipate that construction at HMSC will disrupt the route. When that construction begins, we will remove the directions from this website.
