The Visitor Center depends on donations to support operations. Your contributions make it possible for us to create dynamic, research-based exhibits, conduct unique science education programs for students, and pioneer innovative learning research. They also help us feed and care for our marine animals and put on the special events visitors tell us they enjoy, ranging from our annual Fossil Fest to guest speakers and films.
There are many ways you can donate:
In partnership with City of Newport, the Hatfield Marine Science Center Visitor Center will be host to a large piece of the Japanese Dock that washed ashore as a result of the March 11, 2011 Japanese Tsunami.
The dock will be on display early in 2013, and will serve as a memorial to the victims of the tsunami, as well as a focal point for the Visitor Centers tsunami education efforts. Tax-deductible donations may be made via the web widget, and will go to support the installation of the dock, interpretive signage, and on-going tsunami educational programming.
Join in this opportunity to contribute to the future of the HMSC Visitor Center's marine education programs, and be a part of a public art piece. Your donation of $250 or more will sponsor a square in a beautiful glass quilt, filled with images of Oregon’s marine life, and support the ongoing work of teaching the next generation to value Oregon’s oceans, land, and way of life. Click the "Make a Gift" button to the left to donate via the OSU Foundation/Campaign for OSU's secure online giving site. Your donation in any amount goes directly into the Visitor Center's Foundation account to support our programs and services.
We've never charged admission to the Visitor Center, but we encourage visitors to donate when they come to help support the animals, exhibits and programming they enjoy (suggested donation: $5 per person; $20 per family).
