How can I take part?

Searching for clues

There are many ways to become involved with Quests.

Go on a Quest - Obtain the book of directions or download a sample Quest and head outside to explore.

Make a Quest - Attend our upcoming Quest-building Workshop to find out how you can help youth and adults connect with community through the making of Quests.

Volunteer - We are always looking for people who can help monitor Quest boxes and clues.  Consider adopting a Quest near you.

CREATE A QUEST

Hiding a clueIf you or your group would like to build your own Quest, consider attending the next Quest-building workshop for guidance.

QUEST-BUILDING WORKSHOP

Saturday, February 6, 2010

1 pm – 4 pm

Hatfield Marine Science Center, Newport, OR

$25 per participant, space limited to 20 participants

Please register by Jan. 29

In this workshop, participants will learn how to bring young people and adults together to tell the story of place through the creation of new Quests. We will discuss the Quest format and educational philosophy, try out an existing Quest, and build a short practice Quest. Teachers, park/museum staff, historians, naturalists, and all other community members are invited to attend. After this training session, many participants will go back inspired and ready to help their classrooms or community groups build a Quest. Oregon Coast Quests welcomes submissions for the next Quest book, due to be published in late spring of 2010.

Click here to download a registration form for the workshop.

Tailored on-site workshops and curriculum support are also available for Quest-builders.  Contact cait.goodwin@oregonstate.edu for more details.

HELP MAINTAIN OUR QUESTS.

We are seeking volunteer individuals and groups who would be interested in helping create and maintain future Oregon Coast Quests. You could help by committing to periodically check a Quest in your area to make sure the clues and box are in good order. Or, if your group is interested in creating a Quest for possible inclusion in a future Quest Book, Oregon Coast Quests can help you get started.
