As you might expect, seafood - fresh, abundant and creatively prepared - is the highlight of most coastal restaurant menus, but meat-eaters and vegetarians can find plenty of tasty options on the Central Coast, too - as will lovers of sweets, espresso or microbrews.
You'll also find a wide range of choices for places to stay, from campgrounds and motels to bed & breakfasts and sumptuous private vacation rentals. Lodging can fill up fast on summer weekends, and rates are generally higher from Memorial Day through Labor Day, but with a little advance planning, you should find something that meets your needs.
