2026 Internships
The iLab is offering two year-long internships. These internships start in February 2026 and run through December 2026. Students will work on-site for 10 hours per week during academic terms and 40 hours per week during the summer term. Summer housing at Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport will be provided along with an hourly wage.
In this internship, students will focus on engineering and design related to marine research. A background in engineering is not a prerequisite for the internship. We are looking for students who have a deep desire to develop solutions for problems facing marine research and a broad desire to more deeply explore the marine world.
The bulk of the internship will be focused on progressing an independent research/design project. Interns will also work on designing or manufacturing short-term projects that come through the lab during the internship.
