Marine Prototyping Microcredential: Foundations for Ocean‑Ready Design

Are you interested in designing and building technology that can survive the ocean?

The iLab at Hatfield is launching a week-long Marine Prototyping Microcredential Workshop, and we’re looking for participants!

This hands-on, foundational workshop is designed for individuals with little or no prior experience in marine prototyping. You’ll gain practical skills essential for building systems that withstand harsh marine environments, including:

  • Computer Aided Design
  • Electronics
  • Machining
  • 3D Printing
  • Laser Cutting
  • Sealing and Waterproofing systems

Earn Credentials

Participants who successfully complete the workshop will earn a microcredential badge in marine prototyping from the Marine Technology Society. Add this credential to your resume or share it on social media to showcase your new technical skills to employers.

Dates and Times

The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 27 to Friday, May 1.

NOTE: Participants are expected to attend the entire workshop and participate in all activities in order to earn the microcredential.

Eligibility

This workshop is open to undergraduate students, graduate students, and professionals interested in marine technology.

Space is limited to 16 participants. Because enrollment is limited, we strongly suggest applying as soon as possible.

Full-consideration application deadline: March 15, 2026
Application closing date: March 22, 2026
Successful applicants notified: March 31, 2026
