REU 2023 Application


Welcome to the 2023 Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) application page!

APPLICATION REVIEW UPDATE:  All applicants will be notified when the selection process has been completed. 

All OCE-funded REU sites must give students a minimum of March 15 or LATER to accept their offers regardless of the application deadline. In other words, March 15 is the earliest possible deadline for student acceptance (later deadlines are fine).

Application Instructions:

Application for the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center REU opportunities in marine and estuarine sciences. Review the HMSC mentors and indicate the areas of interest for which you wish to be considered.

Submitting Applications:
  1. Complete the online 2023 application form for the OSU HMSC REU - From Estuaries to the Deep Sea. The 2023 application will be available on January 1, 2023. Here is the 2022 application as a sample to review. It includes short answer questions, a list of courses in progress, and reference contacts.
  2. Transcripts NOT REQUIRED with the initial application. Applicants selected for the program will be required to provide unofficial transcripts for verification.
  3. Letters of recommendation NOT REQUIRED.
  4. All students who are invited to this REU site have until March 15 or later to accept or reject the offer. This means the earliest any applicant can accept a position is March 15. 

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: Tuesday, February 14, 2023, until positions are filled.
