NEW! Mount Union Cemetery - Philomath, OR

Have you had so much fun Questing that you want to make a Quest of your own? That's exactly what Ginny and Kyah Weeber did! This multi-generational duo partnered with the Mount Union Cemetery Association to make new Quest at the Mount Union Cemetery in Philomath. Launched in September 2018, this Quest is ready for testing in preparation for its inclusion in the next Oregon Coast Quests Book. Download and print the directions and try it out.

  • Mount Union Cemetery Quest [MountUnionCemeteryQuest] - 30 minutes. Explore local history and find out more about the pioneer who established this cemetery in 1861.
 
NEW! Two new Quests - Florence, OR

Community members in the Siuslaw region noticed that the Quest Book did not contain any Quests in coastal Lane county, so they resolved to fill the gap. After we held a Quest-building workshop in Florence, residents built and tested two new Quests over the summer. You can expect to see these in the next Quest Book, and for now you can also download them below. Use LEGAL SIZE paper to print these Quests front and back so they print and fold up properly.

  • Siltcoos Lagoon Quest [Download] - 60 to 90 minutes. Explore a lovely, 1/2 mile trail that meanders next to an oxbow of the Siltcoos River in the Siltcoos Reservation Area.
  • Historic Florence Quest [Download] - 60 minutes. Take a walking tour of Old Town Florence and learn about the history of the buildings and people in this charming coastal community.

From the 2017-18 Quest Book:

  • HMSC Tsunami Quest [tsunami_quest.pdf] - 60 minutes. Learn about earthquake and tsunami safety at the coast as you follow the clues and practice evacuating to high ground. This Quest was created by 7th graders at Newport Middle School and is popular with school groups and families.
  • HMSC Nature Trail Quest [HTML] [estuary_quest.pdf] - 45 minutes.  Explore the salt marsh and mud flat habitats of the Yaquina Bay Estuary. The trail offers beautiful views and lots of opportunities to observe birds and other estuarine inhabitants.  Your journey begins at the HMSC Nature Trail entrance located between the Oregon Coast Aquarium and HMSC's back gate.
