HATFIELD CLASSROOM DESCRIPTIONS

Seawater Classroom Lab 27 (HMSC 027): This is a teaching laboratory with running seawater tables that can be rented when they are not being used by the Center's educational programs. Food and drinks are discouraged.

Availability: Labs can be booked up to three months in advance of the event date. Academic programs heavily use this room and there is limited availability for other uses; black-out dates may apply.

Equipment: Freshwater sinks, whiteboards, running seawater tables, hood, and other lab equipment (available for rent upon request). An HDMI connection is available for a laptop (adapters not included) to project onto a large wall monitor. There is a room camera and microphone for web conferencing as well as multiple dental arm cameras to position on tanks and projects.  Free wireless available.

Capacity: 22-30 at long tables and or lab beaches.

Classroom 28 (HMSC 028): This is a medium-sized collaborative classroom with five movable round tables, each seating four. This room is in the education wing of the main building. You may rearrange the furniture but must move it back at the end of your meeting. Food and non-alcoholic drink are allowed if it is prearranged with the Meeting Room Coordinator.

Equipment: 70" monitor equipped with speakers for presentations operated by a computer with internet; whiteboard; room camera and microphone for web conferencing.

Capacity: 20 at round tables.

Classroom 30/32 (HMSC 3032): This is the Center's largest classroom. This room is in the education wing of the main building. Rows of fixed tables have electrical outlets that face the front of the room. Food and non-alcoholic drink are allowed if it is prearranged with the Meeting Room Coordinator.

Equipment: 80" monitor equipped with speakers for presentations operated by a PC with HDMI ports and internet access from a podium; whiteboards, and one blackboard. 

Capacity: 30 at long classroom tables.

Classroom 34 (HMSC 034): This is the smallest classroom is in the education wing of the main building. You can not rearrange the furniture, and food and drinks are discouraged.

Equipment: Large wall screen, TV with VCR, podium, whiteboard easel.
 

Capacity: 19 at classroom tables

Classroom 164 (GVMS 164): This first-floor room is the largest classroom in the Gladys Valley Marine Studies Building, and is an active learning classroom with collaborative workspace for seven groups. There are 14 24" x 72" fixed tables and seven 48" fixed half rounds. The tables are not flexible. Food and non-alcoholic drink are allowed if it is prearranged with the Meeting Room Coordinator.

Equipment: There is a room computer (PC) with internet access at a podium that projects onto two wall monitors located in each corner in the back of the room. The space is equipped with camera and microphone for web conferencing. HDMI connection available for a laptop (adapters not included). Free wireless available, including access to wireless presentation feature. In addition, each collaborative workspace has its own monitor and HDMI connection and is capable of projecting from either the room computer or a laptop. There are also two large wall-mounted white boards in this room.

Classroom 176 (GVMS 176): This mid-sized classroom is on the first floor of the Gladys Valley Marine Studies Building. There are 15 24" x 60" tables and 31 stacking chairs. You may rearrange the furniture but must move it back at the end of your meeting. Food and non-alcoholic drink are allowed if it is prearranged with the Meeting Room Coordinator.

Wet Lab Classroom 146 (GVMS 146) (NOT seawater): This classroom includes 12 heavy lab tables and 26 lab stools. It is on the first floor of the Gladys Valley Marine Studies Building. The room's setup is not flexible, and food and drinks are discouraged.
